A Moonlit Boat Trip – August 3rd 1929

“We would like to use this space to remind all girlfriends again that our ladies club is organising a steamboat trip in the moonlight on Saturday, August 3rd.
For this trip we have rented a wonderful, big steamboat suitable for 300 people, which is equipped with padded leather seats and whose glass windows can be closed in inclement weather.
We leave directly from Spittelmarkt by the subway station at 9 pm, and we will have a big band on board so we can dance on the outward journey.
The trip takes us over the Müggelsee to the Strandschloß Hotel, where we have rented a huge ballroom from a very nice landlady, especially reserved for us. We will provide diversion with cabaret, dance acts and raffle, also we are allowed to dance until 5 am and will return after 5, so that we will be back in Berlin by 7 am. We have set the price at a low 1,50 Mark including dance, so that all girlfriends can participate and the less well-off can also join us. Since a lot of tickets have already been sold, we recommend to get the tickets for the steam boat trip in advance, available during our club meetings, and  for advance sale the price is also 50 Pfennig lower.

“Our steamboat trip in the moonlight on Saturday, August 3rd was sold out due to marvellous weather. 300 ladies took part, and a lot of ladies followed by train, since the steamboat was completely full. In a jolly mood we left with music playing, along the Spree across the calm Müggelseee and arrived at the Strandschloß around 11 pm. A snappy band played dance music, and diversion was provided with cabaret and a raffle. The winner of the first prize was very happy to win blue fabric (enough for a coat and skirt), but the other ladies were also very happy with their smaller prizes. Dancing went on until about 5 am, afterwards we took the boat back home, and arrived around 7 am in Berlin at Spittelmarkt. From the happy faces and the thanks we could see the trip was a success and we want to use this space to once again thank all participants. In compliance with the numerous requests we will organise a second steam boat trip, this time during the day, on Sunday, 8th of September. This time we chose the lovely Löcknitz, to capture this beautifully located water landscape on film, since we will at the same time film material for our club, all ladies can participate in this if they want.
This film is intended only for our club and will be shown during club nights during dancing. If you want to join us on this trip, let us know.

With greetings to the club administration, Lotte Hahn”
